Family Times
"We must not forget the loves and friendships, growing out of common interests, the gaiety and joy which finds its way into the most humble homes, the quadrilles danced in private places, the singing in schools, the spelling bees, the sleigh rides and the revivals. We must not forget family picnic reunions, or feasts spread after barn raising, hay making or harvesting. The joys of extended family at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Or the sorrows shared over church meals after the funerals of loved ones. These things past and present are the threads of human life that make us all familiar. These and many other diversions involve the sharing of food. These contribute to peace and contentment to the adventure of pioneering and the stress of current life." - Samuel Henry Robbe
